Intersect: International Journal of Society, Education and Technology is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Negeri Manado. The journal upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and strictly prohibits any form of plagiarism. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of articles in this journal, including authors, editors-in-chief, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher. The policy is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Best Practice Guidelines for journal editors.
Duties of Authors
Authors are expected to present accurate accounts of their research and provide an objective discussion of its significance. Data must be represented truthfully without fabrication or manipulation. Manuscripts must include sufficient details and references to enable replication of the work. Submitting fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitutes unethical behavior.
Authors must ensure that their works are original and have not been submitted to more than one journal simultaneously. Proper acknowledgment of other people’s work must always be given. All individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors, and all co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
Authors are also required to disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that might affect the interpretation of their findings, and to promptly inform the editor if significant errors are discovered in their published work.
Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for deciding which articles are suitable for publication based on their originality, validity, and contribution to the field. They must ensure a fair and unbiased review process, free from discrimination based on gender, religion, race, nationality, or political affiliation.
Editors must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and ensure that unpublished materials are not used for their own research without the author’s consent. They are also responsible for identifying and preventing publication misconduct, including plagiarism or duplicate submission.
Decisions must be guided by the journal’s editorial policies and legal requirements related to defamation, copyright infringement, and ethical research standards.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers assist the editorial board in making publication decisions and contribute to improving the quality of manuscripts. They must treat all received manuscripts as confidential documents and review them objectively, providing constructive feedback supported by clear reasoning.
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that the authors have not cited and notify the editor of any suspected ethical issues, substantial similarity, or overlap between the submitted manuscript and other published works.
They must avoid reviewing manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, whether arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or affiliated institutions. Reviewers are also expected to complete their reviews promptly and notify the editor if an extension is needed.
By adhering to these ethical guidelines, Intersect ensures the integrity, transparency, and academic credibility of every publication, fostering a trustworthy environment for scholarly communication and knowledge dissemination.
